Housing permits up in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE - The number of permits approved for new, single-family homes in Gainesville was up last month but down in unincorporated parts of Hall County.

Twenty-seven were okayed in the city, compared to July - an increase of 12, while in the county, 115 were issued - 17 fewer than last month.

The new construction is expected to cost more than $26 million, according to Gainesville/Hall County Building Inspection Services.
