CUMMING - Forsyth Central High School students, working with Verizon Wireless, recently hosted the 2nd Annual ArtOfficial project which creates and donates holiday art projects for to the Family Haven Shelter in Cumming.

The art supplies give the children in the shelter a diversion from their stressful situation and a creative outlet for their feelings, according to Caran Smith, spokeswoman for Verizon.

In addition, Forsyth Central High School is holding a month-long HopeLine Phone Drive, through mid-January, collecting no-longer-used cell phones to benefit domestic violence shelters and advocacy groups in the area.

"We are proud to work with Forsyth Central High School students to execute this phone drive," says John Collins, Verizon Wireless Cumming store manager. "HopeLine is a critical community program that helps victims of domestic violence right here in Cumming. It's great that our young people are taking the initiative and understanding the importance of giving back to their community."
