HOSCHTON - A temporary moratorium on zoning requests is in effect for one part of Hoschton.

The moratorium is for six months and affects the Jackson County town's proposed downtown Office-Residential district.

According to Norton Native Intelligence Market Watch, it will apply to all requests for zoning, rezoning, and building permits.

Also covered are: variances, amendments to the city's land use plan, and land disturbance permits for the specified area.

That area, according to the moratorium, includes all properties bounded by and adjacent to West Jefferson Street on the north, Broad Street on the south, New Street on the east and a line from the intersection of Jefferson Avenue/West Jefferson Street to Cabin Drive on the west.
