Curt Severson dies

GAINESVILLE - A man long active in Gainesville with such organizations as Meals on Wheels and Good News at Noon has died. <br>

Curt Severson died at his home Tuesday. <br>
<br>
His community service earned him the Gainesville Rotary Club's Man of the Year award in 2002.<br>
<br>
Severson also chaired many drives at First United Methodist Church and served as the Kiwanis Advisor to the North Hall Key Club for the Gainesville Kiwanis Club. <br>
<br>
He retired in 1978 after a 31-year-career with Ralston Purina.<br>
<br>
Severson was described by AccessNorthGa.com's Gordon Sawyer, in a 2002 column, as "a major player" in the development of the poultry industry in the southeast.<br>
<br>
The funeral will be at 11:00 Friday at First United Methodist Church in Gainesville. (A full obituary can be found on our Obituaries page.)
