It was 73 in Gainesville Saturday - a new record for that date.
And, if the predictions pan out, a new record will be set today. The forecast high is 75 which would be two degrees better than the record for this date which was set in 1931.
The forecast does call for some near normal readings this week and early next week - including Christmas Day. Tuesday's expected to be another day of highs in the 70s but by Wednesday, things will be about 20 degrees cooler than that. That is expected to hold true for Thursday, as well, before a weekend that will see highs in the 60s. But, by Christmas Day, the long range forecast calls for things to cool back into the 30s overnight and mid 50s during the day.
Friday looks like the best day for rain.
