UNDATED - As talk of a regional airport to serve Dawson, Lumpkin and Forsyth counties continues, opposition is forming.

As we first reported last week, a study of the feasibility of such a facility is planned.

"The first phase costs somewhere in the area of $17,000," Dawson County Commissioner Bill Saling.

The airport would serve General Aviation aircraft only - with one 5,000-foot runway and a parallel taxiway.

At least one meeting to discuss opposition to the idea has already been held in Dawson County and another is planned Friday.
