GAINESVILLE - Seven people escaped uninjured from a fire in their Gainesville home Sunday night.

The fire at 481 Wall St. caused about $10,000 damage, according to Battalion Chief Stanley Bonds of the Gainesville Fire Department.

Chief Bonds says the blaze started in a room attached to a carport and was confined to that area, but there was smoke damage to the rest of the house.

He says the cause of the midnight blaze may have been gasoline stored near a water heater.
