GAINESVILLE - Motorists using the State Route 11 bridge over Marburg Creek in Barrow County will have to use a detour for more than five months starting Tuesday.

The project calls for removing and replacing the existing bridge, according to state Department of Transportation District Engineer Russell McMurry.

The new bridge is expected to be ready for traffic November 6th.

The project is expected to cost $1.08 million.

"The detour route if you are headed south, towards Bethlehem, is State Route 11 to State Route 8 to State Route 81 to State Route 316 and back to State Route 11," said McMurry. "The reverse is the route headed north."
