GAINESVILLE - It's not exactly American Idol, but the Hall County School System is launching a nationwide talent search - looking for teachers who might want to relocate here. Meanwhile, progress was reported Monday night as efforts continue to fill a number of principal and assistant principal slots.

Assistant Superintendent for Personnel Richard Hill plans to place newspaper adds in states where teacher salaries are lower than they are in Georgia and Hall County.

"We're going to target some states like Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, New Mexico and so forth," Dr. Hill said.

NEW ADMINISTRATORS

Board members considered six new school administrators and approved one Monday night.

They approved Roselle Holmes of Clarke County for Assistant Principal at Davis Middle School to replace Mary Beth Deaton.

Karla Swafford was recommended to replace Diane Chandler as Principal at Oakwood Elementary School with Tamara Seymour recommended to replace Jo Dinnan as Martin Elementary's Principal and Kevin Bales at East Hall Middle School to replace Eddie Millwood. Lisa Saxon at Lula Elementary was recommended to replace Jan Hughes at Sardis Elementary as Assistant Principal; Dr. Hill recommended Donna Wiggins to replace Suzanne Jarrard as Assistant Principal at Chestatee Middle School and with Board approval Traci Merritt would replace Susan Parker as Assistant Principal at West Hall High School.

The board also considered Neil Yarrington's transfer to Lanier Career Academy as Assistant Principal for 12 months.

Dr. Hill advised the board that he is still searching for people to fill Assistant Principal vacancies at Chestnut Mountain Elementary, West Hall Middle School, West Hall High School and the Alternative Learning Center.
