"We invite all to experience a Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Centennial Olympic Games at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue," said Connie Hagler of the Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club (LCKC). "Come see and experience the living legacy of the 1996 Olympics."
The celebration is scheduled July 22 at the site of the rowing and flatwater canoe/kayak competition at Clarks Bridge Park.
The daylong schedule of events is as follows:
8:00 a.m.-12 noon: Lake Lanier Rowing Club...Georgia Games Rowing
Rowing club birthday celebration BBQ in the park.
11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.: Reunion... Venue open for tours, silent auction, music, food, and Olympic pin trading. The reunion area will be in the boathouse.
2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.: Dragon Boat Races... The public is invited to race on the Olympic Course in Dragon Boats. LCKC will have instructors available to teach you and steer the boats. Dragon Boats will race in breaks in the Lanier Cup competition.
2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.: Lanier Cup Races... Watch some of the best athletes in the United States, Canada and Mexico competing for the $7,600 purse.
