Oakwood to get increased sewer service

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville City Council agreed Thursday to proceed with an expansion of wastewater service to the City of Oakwood under an intergovernmental agreement.

Gainesville Utilities Director Kelly Randall assured council that Oakwood customers would pay for that expanded service.

"Gainesville customers won't subsidize Oakwood and Oakwood won't subsidize Gainesville, that's kind of the premise behind the whole thing," Randall said.

Oakwood requested an additional 247,000 gallons a day for a total of 650,000 gallons.
