GAINESVILLE - It was usually quiet on Hall County roads Sunday night as law enforcement braced for a busy New Year's Eve.

A spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff's Office says traffic was much lighter than normal and the number of calls and arrests were down.

He attributes it to the rain and the fact that New Year's Eve fell on a Sunday this year.

The only significant accident apparently was on Old Cornelia Highway about midnight. Lt. Ken Nix says one person was sent to the hospital.
