GAINESVILLE - Gainesville area veterans recalled heroism, sacrifice and the passage of time at Monday's Veterans Day program at the Georgia Mountains Center.

Featured speakers represented three major 20th century wars.

World War Two vet Joe Wood pointed out that time and age are reducing the veteran's ranks from his war, which ended 62 years ago.

Bill Brown's war was Korea, the so-called forgotten war, but he said no one who fought there would ever forget it.

Vietnam Veteran David Dellinger said he hopes all of the missing in action from his war will someday return and be accounted for.

The annual event to honor the veterans was hosted by Paul E. Bolding American Legion Post 7 and also featured a patriotic music performance by the Chestatee High School Band and a 21 gun salute and the playing of Taps by the Hall County Sheriff's Department.

The colors were posted and retired by the Riverside Military School Cadet Color Guard and the memorial wreath was placed by Geri Hinton, Unit 7 President and Catherine Goudelock, Past President of Unit 521
