GAINESVILLE - Monday night's Hall County School Board meeting marked a big night for one elementary school principal.

The board approved Lyman Hall Principal Dr. Aaron Turpin as the system's new instructional Technology Director, replacing the retiring Delaine Melton.

"I'm really excited about creating our classrooms into the true 21st century learning communities where the boys and girls will learn how we're going to work and learn in the future," Turpin said.

Turpin is also on the Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors and the Board approved his request for a one-point- five acre land swap, paving the way for a club location next to Lyman Hall next spring.

"That's going to allow the athletic fields at Lyman Hall to be improved and in some cases built in exchange for the property; I think it's a real win/win for the community," Turpin said.
