That's because there's less lake for the fish to hide in.
The boat ramps are closed, so anglers are fishing from the bank, according to Nita Pendell at Nita's Bait and Tackle on Clarks Bridge Road.
"It's the best fishing we've had in the last few years that I can remember," she said. "The problem is getting out on the lake, but a lot of people are bank fishing."
Pendell says business is good and customers are telling her they're catching big bass and striper from the bank.
With the lake's boat ramps closed some boaters are making their own path to the water, and once afloat, they stay in the channel where the water is deeper but bank fishing is pretty good.
"Normally they're boat fishermen but they're anxious to get out so bad that they came by and got some bait and went out fishing on the banks," Pendell said.
"We have people standing out near the bridge here on Clarks Bridge, just fishing from there; they're actually catching stripers, which is an amazing feat."
