GAINESVILLE - James Dumas is now serving as a full-time chaplain with the Pastoral Care department at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC).

Dumas has been a local pastor for more than 20 years and has completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education. He also has experience working with disasters and is trained in Critical Incident Stress Management.

Dumas will be working with NGMC's volunteer and part-time chaplains to provide "more comprehensive" pastoral care coverage, according to NGMC officials. His main focus will be on meeting the pastoral needs at NGMC's Lanier Park Campus and long-term care facilities, New Horizons West and New Horizons North, but he will also minister at NGMC's Main Campus.
