GAINESVILLE - A week-long trial ended Friday with a Gainesville man found guilty of a number of charges in a brutal attack on his fiance.

Benjamin Horne was convicted of kidnapping with bodily harm, aggravated assault and violation of the Family Violence Act.

"The kidnapping with bodily harm conviction carries with ti a minimum mandatory life sentence," Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh said.

Darragh says Horne was acquitted of aggravated sexual battery and another aggravated assault charge.

Darragh says Horne testified he "stomped" the woman. The D.A. says other evidence was presented showing he "barricaded her in a closet, choked her, poured hot coffee on her, dragged her by her hair (during the ordeal) and sexually assaulted her, although he was acquitted of that charge."

Darragh says Horne attacked the woman because "there had been an argument where the defendant had alleged infidelity on her part."

Horne will be sentenced at a later date. Darragh said Friday the sentencing date had not been set.
