Longtime coroner dies

DAHLONEGA - A former longtime coroner of Lumpkin County will be buried Saturday.<br> <br> Forrest Sisk died Wednesday at the age of 86 following a brief illness.<br> <br> The owner of Vickers-Sisk Funeral Home, he served as Lumpkin County Coroner for 40 years, starting in 1952. <br> <br> Sisk was active in many business and civic affairs in Dahlonega and Lumpkin County. In 1957, he became a a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Dahlonega. After the Bank of Dahlonega was acquired by Century South Banks, he held the same position on that board until 1991. He was an active member of the Dahlonega Lions Club for 45 years where he served as treasurer for 41 years.<br> <br> In 1998, he received the Melvin Jones Fellowship award which is the highest recognition a Lion can receive by the Lions Club International Foundation. <br> <br> The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 at Dahlonega Baptist Church.
