Girl Scouts to 'explore' the world, thanks to grant

ATHENS - Thanks to a grant from the Georgia Humanities Council, Girl Scouts in Northeast Georgia will spend a day learning about their world. <br /> <br /> Program Specialist for the Girl Scouts of Northeast Georgia Angie Trantham said the $5,000 grant will help fund "Thinking Day."<br /> <br /> "Thinking Day is something where we get all the girls together and they celebrate the different countries of the world," said Trantham. <br /> <br /> She said girls can visit fact booths representing the different countries and try each country's cuisine.<br /> <br /> "They learn about the different countries so they can learn acout the world around them," she said. <br /> <br /> Trantham said college professors will be at the event to talk about the different cultures of each country, and a carribean steel drum band will also be performing.<br /> <br /> Thinking Day will be February 16 at the Georgia Mountains Center in Gainesville.<br />
