Mid-afternoon wreck ties up Thompson Bridge motorists

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville Police and firefighters responded to a Thompson Bridge Road accident just as afternoon drive time traffic was beginning to build up on the busy north-south four lane.

The collision occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m.in the southbound lanes in front of Westminster Church and Blockbuster Video.

One inbound traffic lane was blocked and traffic backed up for a while until police cleared the wreck scene.

There were no injuries, it appeared the two compact cars involved were headed in the same direction and possibly sideswiped each other.
