GAINESVILLE - For the first time in only nine days, the high in Gainesville Sunday was at or above normal for this time of the year.

In addition, it was only the second time in 14 days that has happened. The temperature topped out at 54 Sunday at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport.

During that 14-day stretch of below-normal readings, daytime highs were mostly in the 30s and 40s, including a high of only 32 on Jan. 20. Lows ranged from 17 on Jan. 20 to 37 on Jan. 18.

Gainesville also recorded measurable snow on two days and had a brush with an ice storm on another.

Temperatures at or above normal should be with us most of the week with highs Monday expected to be around 60; in the 60s on Tuesday; and the low 50s Wednesday.
