GAINESVILLE - Bank customers and business leaders heard Wednesday at Peach State Bank in Gainesville that while the economic downturn has impacted community banks, those banks are still sound and ready to do business.

Atlanta banking attorney Walt Moeling and Community Bankers Association President Steve Bridges invited their audience to look past current economic troubles and see into a better future.

Moeling said from now on expect common sense lending, with the hometown based banks financially positioned to help rekindle the building industry, a key in the economic recovery.
