Parks and Leisure Services recently completed the Field of Dreams, a field where every child can play.
The field comes complete with a rubberized, handicap accessible baseball field and a handicap accessible playground. The complex meets the needs of children with physical and developmental disabilities.
Major League Baseball Hall of Famer and former Atlanta Braves pitcher Phil Niekro supported the sports facility project, which is only three miles from his Flowery Branch area home. He threw the first baseball.
"There's so many young boys and girls, not just from Hall County but from miles and miles around who can come play baseball," Niekro said.
Parks and Leisure Services Director Greg Walker said the field was already in use. The original dedication date was in October but it was postponed because of rain.
