GAINESVILLE - Northeast Georgia wineries are inviting the young and young at heart to celebrate Valentine's through next weekend with a romantic breakaway in the mountains.

Doug Paul, co-founder of Three Sisters Vineyards and Winery near Dahlonega, is offering a wine and chocolate lovers celebration with two different tastings through Valentine's weekend.

"One will be our vintner's (wine maker's) tasting in the tasting room where they'll get a souvenir wine glass and a taste of about six different wines," Paul said.

"Then there's the special Valentine's Day tasting with wines, wine glasses, cheese and chocolates."

John and Jennifer South came all the way from Gainesville, Fla., to enjoy the wine, cheese and chocolate.

"It was great, this was where I wanted to come for Valentine's," Jennifer South said.

The Souths said they are no strangers to the winery; they've been visiting since their honeymoon four years ago.

Paul said the wineries don't miss an opportunity to promote the Georgia wine industry and Valentine's is a perfect occasion.

Blackstock Vineyards and Winery features a romantic retreat Valentine's weekend with a crackling fire in the lodge where the ladies are greeted at the door with long stem roses.

Wolf Mountain Vineyards is inviting Valentine's patrons to a six course gourmet dinner with wine pairings and chocolate dessert on Feb. 16th.
