Gainesville - A Gainesville food processing equipment manufacturer is in an expansion mode. That means new jobs, and that means a Quick Start training program at Lanier Technical College for the new workers.

Stork Gamco executives signed that training agreement with Lanier Tech President Dr. Mike Moye Wednesday morning.

Regional Quick Start director Jeff Lynn said Stork Gamco is starting with 25 new workers, and that means 25 trainees.

"We are training in technical areas, also in leadership and team areas as well, so it's not just technical training we do," Lynn said.

Quick Start provides customized workforce training at no cost to qualified new, expanding and existing businesses and industries.

Stork Gamco is expanding to produce new poultry cooking equipment for ready to eat products, according to Vice President of Manufacturing Mike Barton.

"We need skilled people to be able to accomplish the task at hand and we're looking to Quick Start to helps us with that," Barton said.

Barton added Stork expects to hire 30 to 60 new workers over the next three years in Gainesville.
