Greg Johns, an investigator with the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office, said the two boys were 14 and 11.
Johns said a group of children were playing Sunday afternoon and one tossed a can into the water. Johns said the younger boy went after it and when he didn't come up from the water, the older boy tried to rescue him.
DeKalb County Fire and Rescue spokesman Eric Jackson said the boys' bodies were found about 10 feet from the shore. Their names were not immediately released.
