LULA - Tuesday, Aug. 26 is going to be remembered as the day Tropical Storm Fay was not nice to Hall County; the rain she sent was nice, but not the wind and tornado damage.

Her latest attack occurred late in the day in East Hall in the Timber Ridge, Hewell Road area, where three mobiles homes were hit hard and a barn was damaged.

Fire Marshal Scott Cagle said the National Weather Service tornado warning was issued about the same time the twister struck about 6:45 p.m.

"We were put under a tornado warning this time. Some funnel clouds in this area were spotted by citizens and one was depicted by radar," Cagle said.

Gail Tyndall did not need a tornado warning to tell her a twister was headed for her sister's house across the road.

"It was like a freight train coming through," she said. "It was the scariest thing I'd ever seen, it really was."

The late afternoon twister ripped the roof off Lee Huynh's doublewide on Hewell Road; his son, grandson and granddaughter were inside but they were not hurt.

"I don't know how they got out of it, but they got out; Thank the Lord for it," Huynh said.

"Earlier today North Hall, then central Hall County with our schools and now we're over here in East Hall this time," Cagle added. "Fay has not been kind to us. We needed her rain to fill up our lake but the wind damage today has been very bad."

Cagle observed that despite the storm incidents there were no reports of injuries from debris damage directly related to the storm.

Lyman Hall Assistant Principal Veronica Grizzle slipped and struck her head while assisting a student to safety during the storm that struck the school.
She was hospitalized at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and a spokesperson said her condition is improving.
