GAINESVILLE - A Jackson EMC meter reader was attacked and seriously hurt by three dogs earlier this week, according to a spokesperson for Jackson EMC.

Bonnie Jones says dog bites are not uncommon for utility workers, although this incident was more severe than most.

"This incident really highlights a problem out there that's continuous for us and all utlities that have personnel that are in the neighborhoods on a routine basis," Jones said.

The worker, who is employed by Jackson EMC on a contract basis, was bitten multiple times and had to have reconstructive surgery on his left arm. Jones said she could not release the worker's name. Hall County Animal Control officers were unavailable for comment.
