GAINESVILLE - Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board members had a short meeting Tuesday night; the only item on their agenda was tabled.

A property owner proposing a zoning amendment request to allow apartments instead of town homes called for a delay.

Al Gainey said before the session began he was going to table his amendment to a Planned Unit Development, granted two years ago to build town homes at the corner of Enota and Yonah Avenue.

Gainey said the amendment request, filed by realtor developer Jack Waldrip, calls for 13 single family homes but also 40 one bed room apartments in two two story buildings at almost twice the density.

Gainey said he wanted to talk to the neighbors about the change to hopefully head off opposition to it.

Planning and Appeals agreed to postpone their hearing on it until next month.
