DAWSONVILLE - Kolt Owenby set a school-record with six touchdown passes to lead Union County to a key Region 8-AA win over Dawson County Friday night.

The senior quarterback finished with 360 yards passing with no interceptions on 14-of-23 attempts and added 82 yards rushing in just 2 1/2 quarters of play.

Blake Gowder was the main target for Owenby with seven catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Jesse Wright had three touchdown catches and Wesley Adams had one for the Panthers.

The win was huge for the Panthers (5-3, 4-3 in region) who moved into sole possession of fourth place after Riverside Military Academy (3-4, 3-3) was upset by Oglethorpe County, 23-14, on the road Friday.

Union County and Riverside will meet next week in Blairsville in what is expected to decide the final playoff spot in Region 8-AA.
