GAINESVILLE - Federal money for a study to support eventual rapid rail for Gainesville is in a transportation grant application approved by Hall County Commissioners.

Metropolitan Planning Organization Transportation Planning Manager Srikanth Yamala told commissioners the study could give Hall Area Transit options for a rapid rail maintenance facility. "And maybe, in turn, it could be leased or rented to Gainesville," said Yamala.

Yamala said the grant is for $60,000 with a $6,000 local match. The commission has approved the application.
