GAINESVILLE - As school systems across Georgia struggle to make ends meet, Hall County locked in fuel prices Tuesday for buses through October... and it looks as if they'll save some big money.

"We had budgeted in excess of $3.50 per gallon when we did our budget, so we look to save a little better than $400,000," said Jewell Armour, head of the Hall County Schools Transportation Department.

Armour said with taxes and delivery fees, the county will pay around $1.60 per gallon for diesel fuel.

With the lock-in of the price, the system also has been guaranteed fuel delivery even if there is a national, regional or state fuel shortage.
