Tennis: Gainesville girls rebound to edge East Hall

East Hall girls tennis was on the way to a victory over Gainesville on Tuesday, tied at 2-2 and with Brittany Burris winning the first set of the No. 3 singles.

But Gainesville sophomore Hunter Lane came from behind to win the second set and third sets to seal the first subregion win of the year for Gainesville, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Lady Elephants (1-4, 1-0 Region 7B-AAA) freshman Mady Wuest also defeated East Hall's Brighid Duran at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-1. East Hall's Marrissa Thompson won against Gainesville's Joy Bauerband 6-0, 7-6 winning the second set in a 7-4 tie break at No. 2 singles.

Gainesville won at No. 1 doubles with Seniors Elizabeth Hood and Lyndsay Mercer defeating East Hall's, Brittany Turpin and Taylor Hunt 6-2, 6-2.

East Hall's Lauren Guest and Christina Deras won the second doubles match 6-0, 6-1 over Gainesville freshmen Abby Cooley and Caroline Franklin.

Gainesville's girls travel to Flowery Branch at 4 p.m. Thursday.
