Missing Gainesville man found

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville man who was reported missing after leaving his home at 8:30 Thursday morning has been found.

Officials with the Gainesville Police Department said 84-year-old Nemore Savage was found in Greensboro around 2:15 p.m.

An officer in Greensboro reported that Savage, an Alzheimer's patient, had run out of gasoline and was asking a passersby for assistance when he was recognized and authorities were contacted.

Authorities said Savage was transported to a Greensboro hospital for precautionary measures and will be returned home to Gainesville.

Officers said they are still unsure why Savage traveled to Greensboro which is approximately 86 miles southeast of his home.
