Flowery Branch Council wants gas station to 'clean up'

FLOWERY BRANCH - Flowery Branch City Council Wednesday approved a beer and wine license renewal for a Spout Springs gas station and convenience store they wish would clean up its appearance.

City Manager Bill Andrew said that's really important on busy and rapidly developing Spout Springs Road near the Interstate.

"We're trying to promote the hotel, we're trying to promote Stone Bridge Village and those are really 'A' Plus properties and then we have the BP station that's not keeping its litter picked up," Andrew said.

The station, owned by Jones Petroleum of Jackson County, is in front of the new Hampton Inn and across the road from the giant shopping center.

Council considered withholding the license until the BP station cleaned up; City Attorney Ron Bennett said continued litter violations might lead to a license revocation.

"If you end up with a municipal court violation on the books you'd probably have grounds for a license revocation at that point," Bennett said.
