GAINESVILLE - Looks as if the trend established last year with rabies cases in Hall County continues this year.

On March 19, a veterinarian saw signs of rabies in a domesticated cat and had the animal shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab for testing. The cat, found in the Elmer Truelove Road area in North Hall, did test positive for the disease.

Also last week, on Friday, March 20, a raccoon came into contact with two dogs in the Wood Valley Drive area. The raccoon tested positive for rabies. Positive alert signs have been posted in both areas where the rabid animals were discovered.
