Wieland cuts prices, sells 101 houses in 2 months

SMYRNA - Developer John Wieland, determined to jump-start the housing market personally, took a hands-on approach and met a goal of selling 101 houses... just shy of two months after launching the campaign in South Hall.

Wieland, CEO of John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods, reached his goal of selling 101 houses Thursday when he shook the hands of Jason and Ashley Patton.

The Pattons bought the 101st home sold since Wieland started his "Get Housing Moving" tour. The house is in Canton.

The 72-year-old Wieland logged more than 4,800 miles in his mobile home, slept in 50 unsold houses and met with numerous agents and prospective buyers. He said he chose the number 101 to emphasize the theme of getting back to basics.

Wieland has been advertising price cuts ranging up to more than $100,000 during the promotion.
