CUMMING - Two groups fighting to preserve Lake Lanier got an economic shot-in-the-arm from the Forsyth County Commission.

Commissioners voted in a work session Tuesday to give the Lake Lanier Association and the 1071 Coalition $10,000 each.

"The funding is being provided in support of both organizations regarding Lake Lanier," said county spokesperson Jodi Gardner. "The Lake is certainly recognized as an important component of the community and the area's economy."

The full commission still has to approved the funding, according to Gardner.
