GAINESVILLE - Faces from a war of long ago began to look back through time to visitors Friday at Northeast Georgia History Center.
They are Portraits in Gray, period photographs taken nearly 150 years ago of young men and boys who left home to fight for the South in America's costliest war, the Civil War.
History Center Administrative Coordinator Julie Carson said the photos are haunting.
