(Cleveland)- With County revenue down, the White County Board of Commissioners have approved a new fiscal year budget that reflects that.  The commissioners Monday night approved a $13-point two million dollar budget, which represents a $977-thousand dollar decrease from the previous year.  This new budget does include any capitol outlay projects, or county employee pay raises.

Commission Chairman Travis Turner said this budget is a result of a proactive approach by the commissioners.  The budget is tight but county financial director Vickie Neikirk says there is a contingency fund to meet any unforeseen expenses.

Following the budget approval vote, White County Sheriff Neal Walden called on the commissioners to revisit the budget in January to see if there could be a way to provide county employees much needed pay raises, they agreed to do so.

The Cleveland city council Monday also approved a reduced budget for the city. General fund budget approved  was for $2-point 1 million dollars, down just over $50-thousand dollars from the previous year. Lower taxes, and service fees contributed to the reduced budget.
