MAYSVILLE - The Maysville City Council has authorized the city attorney to draft an ordinance for the sale of beer and wine by the drink in the city's restaurants.

Mayor Jerry Baker said, though, he doesn't think the proposal will go very far.

"I've heard the public on their points of view, and they're not ready for our town to do that," stated Baker.

Baker said only one restaurant has expressed an interest in obtaining a pouring license.

It is possible the council could discuss the matter in its work session next week if the draft proposal is ready.

Once the draft is presented to the council, a public hearing would be set before the council could formally vote on the plan, according to Baker.
