Softball: Buford opens tourney with win over Wesleyan

BUFORD - Host Buford opened the Buford Invitational Softball Tournament with a 5-2 win over Wesleyan Wednesday.

Junior Tricia Warbington won her second game in as many days allowing two runs - one earned - on four hits while fanning three. Junior Karly Fullem came into game in relief of Warbington in the fourth inning allowing no hits and no runs while striking out two to preserve the win.

After falling behind 2-0 in the top of the first, the Lady Wolves pounded out nine hits over the next four innings scoring one run in the first, two in the third, and two more in the fourth.

Senior Alysha Rudnik gave Buford the lead for good in the third inning with a two-run home run. Rudnik and sophomores Lexi Overstreet and Kallie Case each had two hits for Buford. Overstreet finished with three RBI for the Lady Wolves.

Buford next will play Friday at 4:30 p.m. against Grayson in the Buford Invitational Tournament.
