GAINESVILLE - Hall County Commissioners Thursday expect to consider an amendment to allow alcohol consumption at county parks for special events only.

Lake Lanier Convention and Visitors Bureau chairwoman Betsy Adams told
commissioners at their Monday work session the amendment needs to be in place for a major bass fishing tournament with alcohol sponsors set for next month at Laurel Park's new mega fishing ramp. Adams said CVB needs the amendment to attract other major events as well; the county's regular no alcohol policy for day use at the parks would still be enforced.

SLIGHTLY CHEAPER RATES, DEPENDING ON USE

South Hall subdivision homeowners on county sewer are going to be paying slightly less per month if county commissioners enact recommended rates presented to them. Public Works Director Ken Reardon said they would pay a $42 flat rate through the end of March, and then it would change.
