LAWRENCEVILLE - A Suwanee man is charged with robbing a Wachovia Bank branch on Old Peachtree Road in Lawrenceville Wednesday afternoon.

Gwinnett police spokesman Brian Kelly said Jacky Wayne Patterson, 33, was arrested just 17 minutes after the robbery happened.

"While investigating the scene, nearby officers located several witnesses who had seen an individual matching the suspect's description run into a nearby business bathroom," said Kelly.

Gwinnett County Police Officers entered the same restroom and found the suspect inside. Several witnesses agreed to view the suspect and each independently confirmed he was the individual who had just robbed the bank, according to Kelly.

Kelly said Patterson was also found to be in possession of a large amount of cash, the same amount that was stolen from Wachovia Bank on Old Peachtree Road just minutes earlier. No one was hurt during the robbery.

Patterson has been charged with one count of Robbery by Intimidation.
