GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville City School Board gave final approval to their FY 2011 budget Monday night; expenses were over revenues, but there was a big surplus this year.

Revenues added up to $63.3-million, expenses, $63.7-million, but a $3.3-million surplus covered the difference with a little over $800,000 to spare. Supt. Dr. Merrianne Dyer said she hopes to keep teachers hired and hold class sizes down as much as possible.
