Kimbrell joined the Hall County Fire Department in 1991 and has served in numerous roles before being appointed Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director in 2005. Prior to joining Hall County Fire Services, he served in the fire departments of the City of Cornelia and City of Baldwin as well as Habersham County EMS. Chief Kimbrell has 25+ years of experience in the fire services. He also served as a police officer for the City of Baldwin and as a Correctional Officer for the Hall County Sheriff's Office.
Kimbrell is certified as a Georgia Firefighter, PADI SCUBA diver, and nationally registered Emergency Medical Technician. He is active with the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation, serving as past Chairman of their Board of Directors, and is a member of the Board of Directors of Lanier Technical College and on the Executive Board of the Northeast Georgia Boy Scouts of America. He is active in numerous organizations such as the Georgia Firefighters' Clown Society, Georgia Public Safety Educators Association, Georgia Fire Inspectors Association, Georgia Firefighters Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs, Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs and Georgia Arson Investigators Association.
