Southern gospel tour bus in GA 400 accident

DAWSONVILLE - A tour bus carrying members of Dahlonega Southern Gospel group Karen Peck and New River was involved in an accident this morning on Georgia 400 in Dawson County.

Lt. Tony Wooten with the Dawson County Sheriff's Department said the bus was traveling northbound on 400 just north of Dawson Forest Boulevard.

"An elderly male driving a truck pulled across 400 to pull into a retail establisment and pulled in front of the tour bus," said Wooten. "The tour bus was unable to stop and hit the vehicle."

The 75-year-old man, who name has not been released, was taken by life flight helicopter to Atlanta Medical Center with critical injuries.

Injuries to those on the bus were minor.

The Georgia State Patrol said it responded to the accident just after 10:30 a.m. The highway was closed for over an hour while the accident was cleared.
