GAINESVILLE - A Gainesville tradition began at sunrise Saturday; the Kiwanis Club began cooking and dishing out pancakes and sausage for breakfast at the Civic Center.

Event Chairman Maurice Gregory said it is the club's main fund raiser to support its youth programs and all members of the club are involved.

"This is the 49th Annual Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast so we look forward to it every year," Gregory said.

Gregory said the club was well prepared this year.

"We've ordered about 13 cases of pancake mix and about 23 cases of sausage," he said.

Gregory said he hoped to have all that breakfast food and hot coffee sold and consumed by eleven a.m. with proceeds to support Kiwanis youth programs.
