Cleveland)- White County was well represented Friday in Atlanta at the State Capitol as local officials and representatives from Original Appalachian Art Works in Cleveland presented our next Governor and first lady with original, hand-stitched Cabbage Patch Kids made in their likeness.

Margaret McLean, Director of Corporate Communications for OAA said both Governor-Elect Nathan Deal and wife Sandra were asked to recite the official "Oath of Adoption" as they adopted the two babies, John Nathan and Emilie Sandra.

McLean said making the babies in the first family likeness did pose some challenges trying to get everything right.

McLean said the idea for the likeness babies came from White County native and Deal staff member Josh Turner.

Cleveland- White County officials along with many others were on hand for the special presentation.

According to McLean, Georgia Made, Georgia Grown work-of-art, Cabbage Patch Kids set the tone of bringing a touch of fun and fantasy to the serious responsibility we have to future generations during these challenging economic times.
