The groups say immigration legislation proposed by state Rep. Matt Ramsey and state Sen. Jack Murphy, both Republicans, would harm Georgia's economy and lead to racial profiling. They are calling on Gov. Nathan Deal to commit to vetoing those bills.
Supporters of the legislation say the bills, which include some provisions similar to a tough law enacted last year in Arizona, are necessary to fight illegal immigration in Georgia since the federal government hasn't solved the problem.
